Rosin Market Update, 2-29-16

Another modest uptick, with the stated reasons being we are approaching the end of the 2015-16 crop, plus even with the continuing reduction in total annual output, they are finding fewer workers willing to go into the forests to collect crude gum at the current wage rate. Offsetting this is the continued decline in hydrocarbon resin prices, with the gap between hydrocarbon resin prices & Chinese gum rosin now at $475, which is within $5 of the all time price gap.

In our opinion this adds up to a limit to further short term gum price increases along with the continued decline in total Chinese gum rosin production.
