Rosin Market Update, 2/24/14

Posted on March 17, 2014 by Ernest Spinner

Rosin imports to China in 2011 = 3K tons; 2012 = 10K tons; 2013 = 30K tons, about 60% of which came from Indonesia.  Indonesia & Brazil have kept their commitments to their base customers throughout the export surge, albeit with delays.  Futhermore, both Indonesia & Brazil continue to increase their annual production.

Now that rosin is going short, some producers have cut off China & are again devoting 100% of their output to their base customers.  When the tide turns & rosin again goes long it will be difficult for these opportunistic exporters to reestablish themselves in the Chinese market.
